This movie is written and directed by Peter Weir, starring Colin Farrell as Valka, Ed Harris as Mr. Smith, Jim Sturgess as Janusz, and Saoirse Ronan as Irena.The Way Back (2010) is based on a memoir titled The Long Walk by Slawomir Rawicz, which depicted his escape from a Siberian gulag and subsequent 4000 mile walk to freedom in India. The shooting of this movie was held in Bulgaria, Morocco, and India. In this film a teenage boy who comes into his own over the course of one summer through an unlikely friendship with the man in charge of a local water park. Then the boy is able to reconnect with his mom and find the courage to stand up to his bullying stepfather.
